"Oki C3600n"

MacUser
Issue: 12/2008
On test: Oki C3600n
Oki is still pushing its own variation of the laser printer, the so-called LED printer, and its latest colour model, the C3600n is a compact, network-ready desktop printer that promises low running costs and fast printing speeds. But is it enough to draw users away from more traditional products?    More

"HP OfficeJet K7100"

PC Pro
Issue: 5/2008
On test: Hewlett-Packard Officejet K7100
HP's latest business inkjet printer is aimed squarely at workgroups requiring A4 colour printing with only the occasional need for anything bigger. The problem with A3 colour lasers is they're far more expensive than A4 models and many small businesses can't justify the extra expense. At a mere £160, the Officejet K7100 looks a good solution.    More

"Kyocera Mita FS-920"

Computer Shopper
Issue: 12/2007
On test: Kyocera-Mita FS-920
Kyocera's FS-920 is a compact, sturdy and affordable mono laser printer that takes up only slightly more space than an inkjet. It has both USB Hi-Speed and parallel ports, so it'll work with both new and legacy systems. It has a 266MHz processor and 32MB of RAM, which can be upgraded to a maximum of 288MB. A single, large input tray can hold up to 250 sheets of A4 paper. Printed pages are ejected on top of the printer and a extendable clip pulls out to hold 100 pages.    More

"Colour lasers for less"

Computer Buyer & Upgrades
Issue: 11/2007
On test: Xerox Phaser 6180, Hewlett-Packard Colour LaserJet CP3505, Brother HL-4040CN, Dell 1320c
Almost every family PC these days has a printer attached, and almost all of those are inkjets. Laser printers, meanwhile, are standard for business, churning out crisp black-and-white pages much faster thank inkjets can manage. A colour laser might seem like the best of both worlds, but until recently this option was much too expensive for home users and many small businesses. That's now changing. For this group test, we found half a dozen colour lasers at prices that most users could consider. Several cost around £250 or less, while the cheapest model also turned out to be our winner.    More

Laser Printer b/w (A4)

Laser printers are known for the high quality and speed of their printing and the their long life. Even on lower quality paper, the printing quality of a laser printer is still very good. A black and white A4 printer is the standard among these devices and is used in offices and homes where high volume text printing is the norm. Laser printers prove themselves to be much better suited to office environments than an inkjet printer both in terms of print quality and running costs. When working out the annual cost of a laser printer you must take into account whether the toner is sold with or without the light drum. If sold separately the cost of toner will be cheaper, but as the drum will also need to be replaced regularly the cost may be even higher. It is also common for cheaper laser printers to require more expensive toner cartridges, so in the long term, a higher outlay may be a better investment than a perceived bargain.
