PC Advisor
Published on: 2/2008
On test: Microsoft Office Live Small Business
Microsoft's Office Live Web service was designed for small businesses that needed an easy, low-cost solution for creating and hosting websites and business-branded emails. When Microsoft Office Live Web was first introduced in November 2006, there were three versions: Basics, Essentials and Premium. The latest, reconfigured version - now called Microsoft Office Live Small Business (MOLSB) - simplifies things by offering a single service with a number of pay-for add-ons.    More

Email Software / Security

E-Mail has become one of the most important developments of the internet and as a means of communication it is almost impossible to ignore these days. With the boon of instant communication however came the threat of viruses, worms, trojans and spam. Malicious E-Mails have been calculated to cost German business 1.2 million hours a year to sort out. The less dangerous but no less annoying phenomenon of Spam messages, those emails promising cheap, sure fire stocks or little purple pills for one third the price appear many times a day and fill up mail boxes if left unchecked for any significant length of time. To combat these various threats mail clients have had to develop an additional layer of security to filter out anything unwanted but be intelligent enough not to delete anything important. Settings to block access to attachments, limit messages to pure text and digital signatures are some of the measures taken up to now. Most Email programs also offer extra accessories like address books, news group readers, calendars and date planners but the main function of any mail program is to make sending and receiving email as easy as possible. Most email software is available free of charge and any that you have to pay for are on the whole, very inexpensive.
