Register Hardware felt the Active 10 was good value for money for a rugged outdoor GPS device. Its screen was easy to read, even in dim conditions with its headphone port and card slot also doubles up as a hard-wearing MP3 player.

well built and a good constructed body, I love the fact that i can have high detail 1:25k mapping on this device.

comes in a nice box!!!!

The negative issues are.
power consumption with AA's is rubbish with the rechargible a little better.
I also found the unit locked up 5 times on a trek in the hills with blue skies.

I think alot of these problems are due to the fact that satmap were more intrested in marketing this product and getting it out into the shops rather sorting out all the teething problems and bugs.

so guess what guys its going on e bay and back to my garmin fortrex 101 and my map and compass

basicly buying a pda that read o.s. mapping its a pitty garmin can't have o.s. mapping on their products because im sure they could come up with something special.

Bought 'South of England'(1:50)& 40x40K Lakes (1:25).
Takes a little while to find sats but good lock when found. Very accurate. Found myself in some nasty weather on the hills in Lakes (poor visibility) but satmap was brilliant. Lack of PC software a pain, also cannot backup onto spare SD cards which considering you can spend over £100 on 1 card is a worry. Great to use though just have to be careful not to walk off some cliff edge when using ; - )

Very easy to use, works out of the box. Once the GPS was fixed and I selected a route OFF I WENT! The elevation data in the route profile looks great and the track points and statistics show exactly where I've been. Nice. This device was the highlight of my holidays!
