The Solid may not be full of features or anything like a smartphone but as CNet.co.uk found out, the Solid can handle some dust, dirt, water and occasional drops and is made to be solid.

ZDNet feels that although lacking in a number of features come to seen as standard, the Samsung Solid could still serve owners needing a basic phone which is capable of standing up to the daily onslaught of dust, knocks, drops and splashes that a part and parcel of some professions. Its battery life was also impressive and the SOS feature could come in handy for those working in difficult environments or even for elderly people.

While most rugged handsets command a not insignificant price premium over standard consumer devices, the Samsung M110 is comparatively a steal and with its ultra-tough shell and massive stamina, Reg Hardware feels Samsung should be applauded for creating something a little less utilitarian than the standard rugged handset.

Under the microscope, the Samsung SGH-M110 Solid was able to obtain its best score of 90% in the 4/2008 issue of RegHardware online magazine. The product received its worst result from ZDNet online magazine (issue 5/2008) with a score of "Good" (6 out of 10 Points).
