Issue 74/2008 Single test |
Powered by two batteries, the SGH-i640V's performance is outstanding. With a slide out keyboard which is good when used at speed. Previous Windows smartphone users may find its set-up slightly different from other Windows Smartphones but the scroll wheel in the middle does have a striking resemble to that seen on the iPod. No wi-fi capabilities and its bulky size is a let down. More of a Smartphone with an acquired taste.

ZDNet found the SGH-i640V to be something of a polarising device; the combination of a heavily customised home screen and the touch-sensitive, rather than physical buttons, can be tough to get to grips with. The physical keyboard could also cause problems for those with large fingers. Battery life however, has quite good, and the inclusion of a second, high-capacity battery in the box made it a solid choice for road warriors.

"... I found the touch buttons irritating, the overall size a little too much for my hand and pocket, and the proprietary connectors for headphones and mains power a pain. ..."
