"The Dualphone 3088 is an excellent PC-less Skype phone. The base station means it's not fully Wifi, but is that such a bad thing considering the current state of the technology? We think not."

The internet telephony (VoIP) device was put to the test in 7 magazines convincing the majority of its quality.
The Dualph@ne from Danish manufacturer RTX is a new cordless phone that, in addition to connecting to a normal landline and offering DECT digital-quality voice calls, can also connect directly to your router to work with the popular VoIP service Skype without the need for a PC. This PC-less functionality is perhaps the main selling point of the device, allowing you to position the device wherever you want, save electricity by leaving the computer off when not needed and the handset itself can even be used to sign up for a new Skype account.
Call quality was well accepted, both over landline and over Skype, with one reviewer for TrustedReviews.co.uk relating that it took a lot of convincing before the person he was speaking to was ready to believe the call was being routed over the internet.
One reviewer, Anthony Dhanendran of Computeract!ve was so impressed by the phone that he was prompted to exclaim it to be 'one of the best examples of internet telephony' he had seen, indeed TrustedReviews gave the RTX DualPhone 3088 ten out of ten in all categories but design, which it saw as more functional than stylish, and awarded it a 'Editor's Choice'.
