In issue (5/2007) of Computer Shopper, the Philips VoIP 321 internet telephony (VoIP) device managed a fairly positive rating, achieving a score of 5 out of 5 stars.
The internet telephony (VoIP) device was put through its paces in the test labs of 4 magazines and received mostly positive reviews.
The Philips 321 VoIP is a dual landline-Skype cordless phone with DECT and all standard features such as caller ID, call waiting, call transfer, phonebook, call log and a Loudspeaker for handsfree use.
The phone's design was well received, many pointing out that as Philips is a company with a history in this area, this is to be expected. Call quality is also praised with RegHardware calling it 'excellent' and ComputerAct!ve 'good'.
Under the microscope, the Philips VoIP 321 was able to obtain its best score of 5 out of 5 stars in the 5/2007 issue of Computer Shopper magazine. The product received its worst result from Pocket-lint.co.uk online magazine (issue 8/2006) with a score of 8 out of 10 points.
The Philips VoIP 321 was also able to walk away with the "Best Buy" (Computer Shopper 5/2007) prize.
In fact, one of the only criticism levelled at this product was the fact that in order to use the phone over Skype, it needed to be plugged into a running computer. Overall though, with good call quality both over Skype and a normal landline, a well designed handset and compatibility with other DECT phones made this a product that RegHardware called 'a stylish and solid introduction to Skype'.
