The DVD-hard disk combo was tested in 3 different magazines and came away with mostly good reviews.
Under the microscope, the Philips DVDR 5500 was able to obtain its best score of "very good" (7 out of 10 points) in the 3/2008 issue of CNET.co.uk online magazine. The product received its worst result from What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine (issue 2/2008) with a score of "average" (3 out of 5 stars).
