The Lumix FZ18 is an impressive compact that has one of the best Auto Modes around. It allows you to capture some of the best point and shoot moments with the least possible effort. There are some design faults such as fiddly controls which can be off putting but if you are willing to over look them, then you are in for a great camera.

"'... a good camera with plenty of features and a zoom lens that will ensure you're never too far from the action'. Despite this praise, and the admission that the sensor is capable of picking up fine detail fairly well, it was colour accuracy and the fact that Panasonic's proprietary RAW file-type counted against the camera in MacUser's review."
