While a little has been sacrificed to fit such a capable camcorder into such a small body, PC Advisor feels it's a worthy tradeoff.

This is a positive upgrade from the HDC-SD5. Not only does it have all the SD5 had to offer but also adds progressive scan for true Full HD. The SD9 also has the new 17Mb/sec AVCHD HA quality mode as well as 13Mb/sec HG. This, however, will only allow you to fit around 30 minutes of footage on a 4GB SDHC card. It also has a reasonable price tag which is why PC Pro predicts it will be flying out the door.

A small yet capable High Definition camera which is perfectly suited for shooting home movies. Not only is the HDC-SD9 quick when it comes to general camcorder operations but it also has expandable storage capacity via a SDHC media. Unfortunately this is also a down side as the SD is the only means of storage available on this camera. Because of it 's size the HDC-SD9's picture quality does not compete with some of the larger High Definition camcorders available on the market. Leaving MacWorld to suggest this camera is one for which a choice between size and quality will have to be made.

Computeract!ve like the SD9 camera well enough, its image quality was good and even at full zoom, the image remained relatively smooth thanks to the built-in image stabilisation. Their main concern was with its price, suggesting that this is higher than some similarly specced models due to its smaller size.
