Although the Time Capsule is a great idea it does have some problems involving slow transfers and the frequent number of backups that are constantly required. The Apple Time Capsule is however a neat and tidy way to backup and MacWorld found it very user friendly. With a large hard drive that ranges from 500GB to a massive 1TB of memory it not easy to fill quickly. Another promising feature to the Time Capsule is that it is maintenance free, once you have set it up it will keep working away in the background. Although the magazine's reviewer felt that it may be more suited to a home environment than as a backup device for SMBs or offices.

Apple's Time Capsule serves as both a backup hard drive and a 802.11n Wi-Fi router, with the functions obviously interlinked, though they can be used perfectly well in isolation. The big draw is Time Machine, Apple's backup application. However, in the absence of Leopard, to which Time Machine is exclusive, PC Advisor says, other Mac users and PC users are presented simply with a SATA hard drive combined with a wireless-n, router, which means it may not be worth getting if you already have at least one of those components.

"For users needing a backup solution for small networks Mac User found Time Capsule to offer good value for moeny, especially the 500GB. When it came to the 1TB version of the device, however, they feared that the added cost could make it harder for single users to justify its purchase, especially if the router features were not to be fully exploited or already surpluss to requirements."
