More information at: test (Stiftung Warentest), issue 9/2010 Nokia is Slightly Ahead Mobile Phones: two smartphones from Nokia perform better than Apple’s glorified iPhone 4. From A for ‘aerial issues’ to Z for ‘zero volume control’, our test showed flaws in the latest mobile phones. In test: 28 mobile phones were tested, including 10 multimedia mobiles (with a music player, camera with at least a 1 megapixel resolution, and a memory card slot or at least 1 GB memory) and 18 smartphones (full keyboard, UMTS or wireless). 8 of the multimedia mobiles were rated “good” and two “satisfactory”. 9 of the smartphones were rated “good” and 9 “satisfactory”. The test criteria for the multimedia devices were telephone (call quality, function in GSM/ UMTS net, SMS), camera (image with normal/ poor light, shutter delay), music player (sound/ compatibility), GPS, handling (user instructions and set-up, display/ keyboard, telephone operation/ camera/ music player ...) as well as stability and battery. Internet and PC functions were also examined for the smartphones (surfing, email, syncing with a PC). If the result for the test areas of ‘camera’, ‘music player’ or ‘internet and PC’ was “sufficient”, the overall result was devalued by a half mark.
