In days gone by, bread making was a daily necessity and chore, then the bakery spread to every street corner and it wasn't until the arrival of the bread maker that the process of baking your own bread began to be something easily accomplished in the home. More and more the bakery is snubbed for freshly made bread from ones own kitchen. This has the advantage that one has fresh bread in the house when wanted and can be used to make many different types of bread. After adding together all the required ingredients in the machine all you need to do is wait 3 or 5 hours before you can be holding warm, fresh baked bread. Some models are equipped with a timer, with which starting time can be preset meaning fresh bread for breakfast no longer requires a trek to the nearest bakery in the cold of winter or the lazy mornings of summer. Because of a different heat source more crust is formed underneath and on the side of the bread than on the top so it still does not beat bread from a bakery. However most bread makers can also be used to make jam. Simply add fruits and preserving sugar into the supplied form and start the special jam programme. Beside the fresh bread there is also a great bread spread.
