What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue 9/2009
Position 3/6 in test
"very good" (4 out of 5 stars)
Offering auto speaker calibration, solid bass and smooth dialogue, Yamaha RX-V565 is sturdily built. At low frequencies sound could be more taut, and action scenes could be more dynamic. Issue of inability to assign an optical and HDMI input to same source may be resolved with a firmware upgrade.

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue 7/2009
Single test
"very good" (4 out of 5 stars)
Somewhat unconvincing audio, especially with underperforming bass and lack of excitement lose Yamaha's RX-V565 the fifth star. Altogether is is a more than adequate HD receiver with much to commend, just in need of a touch of thrill.
