"decent" (3 out of 5 stars)

Product tested: AT300 (32GB, WiFi)

"FOR: Price; easy to use; sounds good through headphones.
AGAINST: Cheap-feeling and flimsy build quality; built-in speakers don't sound great; only so-so video playback."

"very good" (5 out of 6 stars)

Value for money: "excellent" (6 out of 6 stars)

There's very little not to like in the AT300 and in fact, the only quibbles that PC Pro had with it were its slightly sub-par build quality compared with the very best and its somewhat disappointing battery life. Elsewhere it manages to impress on all counts: the screen is bright and crisp, performance is beyond reproach, and the pre-installed software is useful. A triumph for Toshiba.

Product tested: AT300 (16GB, WiFi)

It's not the most exciting of tablets, but the AT300 certainly beats any of Toshiba's previous models and offers a very good Android experience thanks to its powerful Tegra 3 CPU, SD card slot and, maybe more importantly, its very decent price tag, which makes it a bit of a bargain. Register Hardware reckon that, if you're on a budget, it should definitely be on your shortlist.

Selling for more than £300 for the 16GB version, the AT300 certainly is pricey and compares badly to the Nexus 7. Wired praised its stunning screen and fantastic performance, saying also that it looks nice and is well built, but concluded that it simply doesn't offer as much bang for the buck as Google's tablet.

Computer Act!ve think that Toshiba have done an excellent job and that the AT300 does an admirable job of standing up to the iPad. It may fall behind in terms of app selection and battery life, but it goes some way to make up for this with its array of ports and silky smooth operation at a lower price. For those who can't or won't invest in an iPad, this is an excellent alternative.

The main problem of Toshiba's AT300 is in the competition, since it's good, but it's not better than its rivals at this price so there's no compelling reason to go for it in What Mobile's opinion despite its nippy performance, intuitive user interface and responsive display. Resolution is not particularly impressive, though, the camera is poor and the price seems a bit high.

Product tested: AT300 (16GB, WiFi)

Pocket-lint were happy to see that Toshiba is taking steps to redeem itself for its previous tablets and has delivered a very decent offering in the form of the AT300. It's not quite there yet, but build quality and battery life are very good, as is its overall performance, and although it can't measure up to Samsung's and Apple's products just yet, it's no longer a waste of money.

"... it's good at everything it does, with no major flaws to hold it back and great price in its favour. It won't set the world alight, but it'll prove a sound purchase all the same. "

If your heart is set on a 10-inch tablet then the AT300 is well worth a look. It offers great value for some excellent specs, but its screen is not the best PC Advisor have seen. Toshiba face some competition from other manufacturers, as if you can deal with a smaller 7-inch screen, then there are far cheaper alternatives with the same processor and resolution.

If you're looking for a tablet with excellent connectivity, the 10.1 inch Toshiba AT300 could be a suitable option. It has a slim design and rounded corners, setting it apart from many rival angular designs. TrustedReviews note that build quality is excellent and the Gorilla Glass screen adds durability. It supports full sized SDXC card, allowing you to easily expand the memory.

CNET think the 10.1 inch Toshiba AT300 has an attractive design and a slim 8.95mm profile. It feels better produced than the previous AT200 and supports full sized SD cards, so you can easily add photos from a digital camera. The 1280x800 screen is bright and displays colours well. The inclusion of a Tegra 3 processor should result in a top performance.

Although previous Toshiba tablets haven't exactly created a massive buzz around them, the new AT300 brings some welcome, but not exciting, specifications. It runs Android 4.0 and has a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, for a smooth performance. Although the price can compete with the new iPad, the sharp 1280x800 Gorilla Glass display pales in comparison.
