With some time taken to tweak the settings, Toshiba's 42ZV555DB 42" LCD TV manages to produce stable images even at motion and with good colour, contrast and blacks. The TV tuners are unremarkable and audio disappointing. Compared to the leaders in this test this device doesn't manage to keep up.

Like many HD sets, SD reproduction can be noisy unless you pay close attention to the settings. Toshiba's 42ZV555 also manages to lack somewhat in its blacks. But with excellent HD playback, plenty of connectivity, features and specs, this is possibly the unparalleled choice for affordable HD LCD TV and the AVReview Group test winner.
