"Best Buy"
"A plain-looking case and low price belie the 42XV635DB's great image and sound quality. Plus, the EPG is one of the best we've seen."

Issue 10/2009 Position 7/7 in test |
Toshiba's 42XV635D offers excellent specs for this price point, with enjoyable, respectable pictures being available from every source, especially from Freeview tuner. Vibrancy and sharpness are slightly lacking compared to rivals, and sound is somewhat overly bass focused, with harsh treble.

"... Resolution+ is essentially a sharpening tool for moving pictures, and its adjustable levels mean you can tailor its potency to whatever content you're feeding the Toshiba 42XV635D. The thing is, it only really works well with content that's already pretty high quality. Chuck on a Blu-ray movie and Resolution+ will render it more pristine than it already is. Impressive. Flick the channel to UK Fossils TV and you'll struggle to notice it having any effect on that fuzzy old episode of Terry and June. ... Not the HD alchemist it claims to be, but an excellent HDTV for the price."
