PDA Essentials found speech recognition to be one area in which TomTom failed to batter its rivals. The magazine found it to be the most likely to pick up excessive background noise and the confirmations coming from the device were often difficult to understand meaning they had to constantly check the screen to make sure the device had got it right.

Computeractive found the Go 930T to be one of the best satnavs they had ever used. It was packed with features and has fast and accurate traffic updates. The price is however, very high, and many people won't get anywhere close to using all its features.

PDA Essentials' first impressions of the Go 930T were overwhelmingly positive. The unit oozes class and its list of features seems to leave nothing out. They found the screen to be clear and readable in all weather conditions and its route planning was up to the usual TomTom standard. The only sticking point was the high price, but the magazine felt that it may also be time for the manufacturer to update its map screen, which looked a little dated to them in comparison to some of the other devices on test.

Issue 8/2008 Single test |
Value for money: 3 out of 6 stars
Although the Go 930 T doesn't really constitute an essential upgrade for owners of one of TomTom's previous satellite navigation devices, but inheriting the strong features and user interface from its Award winning predecessors is no bad thing. Adding the this strong base, the 930T features TomTom's latest innovation; IQ Routes, which calculate journey times and routes based on the experiences of other road users rather than simple distance / time calculations. Even though the system is in its infancy, PC Pro still found it worked quite well. The units only problem was its premium price tag, but with full world maps, it could be worth the investment.

"Editor's Choice Award"
Benefiting from the years of TomTom experience, the GO 930T builds on the solid mapping and route calculation base provided in the 920T and adds the revolutionary IQ Routes engine. This calculates estimated journey times not based on road speed limits but on actual traffic information which allows the device to plot around slow moving roads and bottlenecks more efficiently than competitor devices.
