"very good" (4 out of 5 stars)

The unexpected gaming success has been remastered for HD in Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Still as engaging as when it was first released, all the violence, killing, and lurking look splendid on Xbox 360 and PS3.

The updated remake of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is truly inspiring gameplay. Violent, intense and with sublime aesthetics, only let down by unexceptional multiplayer and 'action' overload. And the new Assault on Dark Athena also likely will become a classic.

Not just one new game release in The Chronicles of Riddick series, Assault on Dark Athena includes an updated Escape from Butcher Bay, standalone sequel, multiplayer options and makes for a genuinely engaging and sophisticated first-person shooter.

The updated HD of a game five years old shows just how advanced it was for the time. Visceral, intense FPS with superb narrative, when Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena are put together in one release, this is singularly high-quality gaming.
