One of the first LCD sets to feature four HDMI ports, the LE40A656 boasts the usual spec highlights such as 24fps mode, Full HD resolution and Freeview tuner, but the standout aspect of the set is its 'touch of colour' red bezel. Pictures are detailed and sharp but in order to achieve truly deep black levels a compromise has to made between these and the aforementioned detail. All in all What Hi-Fi? felt the Samsung could be bettered, even taking into account the hefty discounts available.

The LE40A656 is an outstanding TV that features a gorgeous design. AVReview enjoyed the brilliant picture quality, particularly the deep black level response which make the dark even darker.
