Apart from its massive 60x zoom, the Lumix DMC-FZ72 is also stuffed with features and physical buttons, which is always good news. Battery life is excellent, and although image quality is not extraordinary, it is very decent nevertheless. ePHOTOzine weren't too happy about its video quality when zoomed in and pointed out a couple of niggles, but overall they recommend it wholeheartedly.

The compromises that Panasonic has made in order to be able to fit the Lumix DMC-FZ72 with a 60x zoom mean that it's not exactly good value in Trusted Reviews' eyes. Image quality is acceptable but nothing to shout about, noise and smudges are a problem at ISO 800, and handling could be better. Unless range is everything to you, there are better alternatives out there.

The massive 60x zoom lens of the Lumix FZ72 is a tricky proposition in What Digital Camera's eyes, since, despite its excellent image stabilisation system, it's almost impossible to keep the camera steady enough to frame a shot when using the full zoom, so it's hard to make the most out of it. It's not a bad camera in other respects, but it's better to go for a cheaper and shorter zoom.

Not only is the Lumix FZ72 the camera with the longest zoom on the market right now, but it starts at an impressively wide 20mm focal length, which is something no other rival can match. However, when it comes to build quality and performance, the FZ200 is the better option for Expert Reviews, who also pointed out that it has a better EVF and sports an articulated LCD.

While zoom isn't all that matters in a bridge camera, the versatility of the Lumix FZ72's 60x lens is not to be sniffed at, especially since it starts at an ultra-wide angle of 20mm. The new sensor combined with the excellent image stabilisation and RAW mode makes for great shots, although Camera Labs also criticised its lack of GPS and Wi-Fi, an important omission in their eyes.

ePHOTOzine found a lot to like in the Lumix FZ72, not only its massive 60x zoom range, but also its excellent continuous shooting speeds, quick AF, optical image stabilisation, 1080p video, manual controls, flash hotshoe and RAW support. In lieu of a full review, it's certainly looking like it could be the only camera many users will ever need.
