“The SD99 gives you a whole load of HD camera for your money. The biggest limitations you have to accept for the device’s price are its slightly low sharpness levels, lack of tools when it comes to picture settings as well as its poor display and missing headphone port. ...” |

Value for money: “very good” “Panasonic is gifting ambitious film makers a device with a huge range of features at an entry-level price in the shape of the HDC-SD99. You can decide later whether you want this to be a 3D device; even with this addition the model from Panasonic remains far beneath the 1,000 euro mark.” |

Reviewed: Panasonic SD99 slashCAM 5/2011 - With its SD99 model, Panasonic is offering many of the features of its large 900 series in a single chip device that comes at an affordable, mid-range price (549 euros). Of course we are very intrigued to see where the cuts have been made and what you can really expect to get for your money in this price segment.
Panasonic HDC-SD80 TrustedReviews 5/2011 - Although pocket Internet camcorders have drastically reduced the entry-level price of HD video shooting, you still need to spend at least £200 to get a decent fully featured model. Panasonic’s cheapest units haven’t dropped significantly in this area. So you will need to shell out around £300 for the HDC-SD80, which isn’t quite Panasonic’s budget offering, but just a rung up.
