While the TX-NR626 doesn't reach the heights of perfection of some of the company's other AVRs, mainly due to a certain harshness to the highs and mids, it's still a mighty impressive offering which delighted Home Cinema Choice with its powerful sound, ease of use, tons of features and wireless connectivity. You'll need to spend quite a bit more to find something better.

If you're looking to step up from your 5.1 system to something with more channels, Expert Reviews reckon the TX-NR626 is a great choice. It's a shame about its lack of AirPlay, but its flexibility and the possibility to add more speakers as you need them make it a great piece of kit that also has power to spare and great support for online and USB file streaming.

Value for money: 9 out of 10 points

Although the sound quality of the TX-NR626 can't quite match up to its predecessors' in Trusted Reviews' opinon, it's still an impressive performer that produces oodles of detail, a fantastic soundstage and a muscular sound that's only marred by some treble harshness at high volumes. A comprehensive feature list is the cherry on the top and makes it a great value midrange offering.
