Without final score
As far as performance goes, Tom's Hardware found the GeForce GTX 580 very satisfying, and they were happy to see that some of the problems of the 480 had been addressed. However, they couldn't recommend it outright without yet knowing how AMD's Cayman technology, which is due by the end of 2010, will perform, or what the price point of these new cards will be. |

4 out of 5 stars
In spite of its lack of multi-monitor support and absence of a DisplayPort connector, the GeForce GTX 580 is an extraordinary performer which sees nVidia back at the top of their game. PC Advisor's tests showed it to be not only the fastest graphics card currently on the market but also one of the coolest, least noisy and most power-efficient, second only to the Radeon HD 5970. |

4.5 out of 5 stars
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 is a speedy graphics card that remains cooler than some and is also much quieter. Compared to the GTX 480, Tech Radar found it consumed less power even considering its superb performance. It is, however, a very expensive graphics card. This is currently the quickest DX11 card on the market and has no true competition. |

"recommended" (9 out of 10 points)
Value for money: "favoured" (8 out of 10 points), "Excellence" Bit-Tech thought the GTX480 was dismal and so they were delighted to see that the new version, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB is a vast improvement. They said this single-GPU card gave a phenomenal performance and the new vapour chamber cooler works splendidly and quietly. They say, however, that potential purchasers should hang on as AMD will very shortly be bringing out its Radeon HD 6900 series new addition, and it will be worth seeing which performs better. |

"very good" (5 out of 6 stars)
Value for money: "good" (4 out of 6 stars), "Recommended" PC Pro say that the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 is, by a mile, the fastest single-GPU graphics card available on the market today. The problem is that in the very near future, AMD will be launching its Radeon HD 6970 and HD 6950, so it may not have the top spot for long. The GTX 580 also remained surprisingly cool and more efficient than earlier models. |

Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 PC Pro 11/2010 - The first card to launch in a new series is usually the fastest. After AMD strayed from that by positioning its HD 6800 cards in the mid-range, it falls to Nvidia to drag the spotlight right back up to raw speed, which it certainly does: the GeForce GTX 580 is the company's new flagship, and it will cost a hefty £340 exc VAT.
