A good screen with touch capabilities, FM radio, microphone and Micro SD card are some of the highlights of Iriver's P7. The 'magazine' graphic interface though is somewhat tiresome and ill-considered.

With stylish appearance and large 4.3in screen, and supporting a good choice a file formats, iRiver P7 presents decent sound and visuals, although off-axis viewing is poor, touchscreen is contrary and dated technologically compared to iPod touch's multi-touch functionality, and there's no web browsing.

Value for money: 7 out of 10 points
iRiver's P7 Flash-based interface, looking like a glossy magazine is where this PMP excels and is unique. Excellent sound comes from replacing the poor bundled buds with even budget 'phones. Some interface issues and price prevent it from being an exemplary PMP just yet.

Video format support on the iRiver P7 is somewhat restricted and touchscreen interaction at times lags. A superlative and admirable design in both hardware and interface are ultimately let down by lack of power. But at the price, it still has plenty on its competitors.

The MP3 player was put to the test in 5 magazines and, all in all, was fairly well received.
Under the microscope, the iRiver P7 (8 GB) was able to obtain its best score of "good" (6,3 out of 10 points) in the 4/2009 issue of CNET.co.uk online magazine. The Test Labs of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine saw fit to give it a score of "average" (3 out of 5 stars) (review in issue 9/2009).
