Like all budget phones, the Ascend Y300's performance is nothing to write home about, and Huawei's Emotion UI takes some getting used to, but overall, Trusted Reviews think it's a good buy. It's well built, the screen is very decent for the price, and battery life is par for the course. If your smartphone needs are modest, it's worth considering.

You can't expect ground-breaking performance from a budget handset such as the Ascend Y300, but PC Advisor say it's not bad either and that it generally runs quite smoothly. Despite its dull looks it feels well built, and its Android 4.1 operating system is quite a surprise at this price. Despite its so-so screen and camera, this is definitely one of the best value phones you can get.

"Budget Buy"

Huawei's Ascend Y300 is one of your best bets if you're looking for a decent budget Android phone, Expert Reviews reckon. As expected, it's not an impressive performer, but its dual-core processor makes it more capable than most of its rivals, and the screen is also better than you would expect at this price. Add to this a reasonable camera, and you get a very decent buy indeed.

The performance of the Ascend Y300 is par for the course for a budget smartphone, and its 1GB of available space for apps is certainly stingy, but its unbelievably low price tag makes it one to consider in CNET's opinion, especially because despite its dull design it feels well built, the screen is very decent, and it runs Android 4.1.2. For £60, it doesn't get any better than this.

With its dual-core CPU, bright 4-inch display and Android 4.1 operating system, the Ascend Y300 looked like a very appealing proposition to reviewers at TechRadar. Its styling is quite generic, but it feels nice in the hand, and Huawei's Emotion UI aims to be friendlier than other alternatives for first-time Android users. If it's priced around the £100 mark it'll make a great buy.
