Issue 8/2008 6 products on test |
The surprisingly inexpensive S1000fd from Fujifilm has an impressive 12x optical zoom lens that will get you closer to the action. MacWorld enjoyed the full range of automatic and manual controls which allowed for creative shooting but a little too much noise crept in above ISO 800 for the magazine's liking.

With all the technical innovation being saved for DSLRs and ultra-small compacts, the S100fd suffers from a feeling of seen-it-all-before and its average performance means that, although it exhibits no serious flaws, What Digital Camera magazine felt it couldn't really recommend the camera whole-heartedly.

Value for money: 8 out of 10
Cute and small it may be but the FinePix S1000fd does lack some important features. The most notable feature that is absent is stabilisation. TrustedReviews.com found that its performance was less than perfect but at the end of the day the FinePix S1000fd is an affordable way to get your hands on that massive zoom, despite its feeble features.
