Although the Epson Stylus SX525WD lacks an ADF, it does have most of the other essentials, including a multi-format memory card slot. Register Hardware liked the design of this device and they say it managed some reasonable print speeds and low running costs, plus the print quality was generally very respectable.

4 out of 5 stars

PC Advisor deemed the Epson Stylus SX525WD to be an excellent option for anyone buying a printer at the top end of the price range. It includes Wi-Fi connectivity and duplex printing, which helps to offset the higher purchase price, plus it performs faster than its rivals. It is also noted that the costs of running this machine are fair, while it produces very good quality prints.

The competitively priced Epson Stylus SX525WD was commended by Expert Reviews for having such a good scanner, and they also said it had numerous strong points worth noting. The low operating costs make it competitive too, but it falls down in the area of print quality, which is only moderate. The Canon Pixma MG5150 prints higher quality if network connectivity isn't a must.

Thanks to its sensible price, duplex printing feature, and wireless functionality, the Epson Stylus SX525WD makes a pretty decent all-in-one, says ComputerAct!ve. Reviewers were pleased by the quality of its high-resolution prints and scans, while they also liked the speed at which it carried out duplex prints; however, they would have preferred a separate photo paper tray.

Value for money: 8 out of 10 points

The Epson Stylus SX525WD has a lot to offer, according to TrustedReviews. Although there's no direct CD/DVD printing facility or multi-page scanning, it does have wireless connection and duplex print capability. For a printer this price, it performed surprisingly quickly too, and running costs are low. Print quality is decent but draft text looks a bit dot-matrix.

Without final score

In general, the Stylus SX525WD has some nice qualities, such as its compact design, solid Wi-Fi connectivity, better-than-average print quality, and superb auto duplex speed. However, IT Reviews found this otherwise outstanding printer to be bogged down by a tedious menu system, while it also misses out on some key features, such as a USB port for printing straight from a camera.

The Epson Stylus SX525WD All-in-One printer impressed GadgetSpeak with its clean, crisp text and image prints. Although photo printing is relatively slow, the end result is a good quality, dry print. Even in draft mode, text appears sharp. Some nice features include a good, easy-to-read display and a stylish, black finish. A USB lead and an easy-to-use software package are also provided.

"... the LCD screen does more than simply display the currently selected options. It will also allow you preview images on any USB device or memory card you may plug into the on-board multi-card reader. ... it didn't take Google more than a few moments to find it priced at just £89.99, with free postage. Now that's a real bargain!"

“good” (1.88)

“... For 120 Euro, the Sprinter can manage 7.1 colour or 15 black and white pages per minute. Likes: The SX525WD is equipped with a duplex unit, which means that it automatically prints on both sides of a page. Operating this printer is made much easier by the 6.3-cm monitor, which allows you to check over photos and documents one last time before printing them out.”

“With USB, WiFi and LAN interface, there are hardly any limits to what the SX525WD can do. With or without a cable (cable optional), the Epson carries out its printing, scanning and copying tasks quickly and to a high standard. The colours are consistent and supply a balanced printed image. ...”
