Summer 2009 Single test |
"very good - excellent" (4,5 out of 5 stars)
Support for a wide range of formats, easy creation of presets, and output to QuickTime-aware apps make Elgato's Turbo.264 HD a hugely useful device, even without considering the speed of its encoding. On the minus side, it is pricey and no longer works on PowerPC computers. |

8 out of 10 points
Something that can already be done with QuickTime or iMovie, Elgato's Turbo.264 HD video encoder does it a little quicker. Simple HD video conversion to H.264 format the USB dongle is too big to be used without the extension cable, and isn't so much faster than existing software. |

4 out of 5 points
A USB hardware-based H.264 HD encoding platform, Elgato's Turbo.264 HD manages to be faster than even new Intel Macs. Drag-and-drop simplicity, 1-click upload to YouTube, fine editing tools and built around the QuickTime codec make for a device only hobbled by its price. |
