Value for money: 18 out of 20 points, "Gold Award" "... first place goes to the Canon lens, although this is made with the important proviso that it was tested only on an APS-C body and so the possibility of slight full-frame vignetting, spotted with the Nikkor, cannot be discounted. Even so, there is little that can be held against Canon's zoom. ..." |

24-70 Full-Frame standard zooms What Digital Camera 7/2009 - With coverage enough for a full-frame sensor these three 24-70mm standard zoom lenses will fit a variety of APS-C sensor-based cameras and provide years of exceptional results. Spending four figures on a lens though gives pause to see just how exceptional they are. Review details: Three zoom lenses were reviewed then rated on features, design, performance, image quality and value. Overall scores of 2 x 92% and 1 x 94% were given.
Ultra Standard Zooms Digital Photo 7/2008 - Most DSLR cameras can be bought in a 'kit' comprising one or more lenses. One will be a standard lens of around 50mm and the other usually a zoom lens offering up to 135mm or so. However, as your experience grows you will tend to demand more and the bundled lenses will not cut the mustard in terms of image and build quality. So what can you expect from trading up? Review details: Four high-quality zoom lenses were reviewed and rated based on image quality, performance, features & build and value for money. Scores ranged from 4 to 5 stars out of 5.
Wide-angle Zooms Digital Photo Spring/2008 - Just picture the scene. There's a brilliant landscape in front of you and you want to get the whole vista into your shot. Trouble is, you pull your lens back to its widest setting, but you still can't fit everything into the frame. It's probably happened to every single one of us. It'll then normally involve a couple of steps backwards to try to squeeze everything in - frustrating and sometimes just not possible. A dedicated wide-angle zoom is the answer, allowing you to everything in your shot. Review details: Eight wide-angle lenses for digital SLRs were reviewed and rated based on features, build, performance, image quality and value for money. Scores ranged from 3 to 5 stars out of 5.
