PDA Essentials felt that the new Eee PC fixed a lot of the problems apparent in the first model. The wasted space at the side of the screen was given over to a much more eye-friendly 9in LCD and the inclusion of more apps right out of the box make it easier for users to get to grips with the system. Their only complaints were with the slightly temperamental wireless chip and the low battery life, although Asus has promised that the battery will be improved in the future.

"Recommended"
Even though the there are imperfections to the Eee PC 900, it hasn't really got much competition at the moment. PC Pro thought the Eee PC 900 wasn't really good enough to be a main laptop but is a good supplement to an existing desktop.

The Asus Eee PC 900 is a good upgrade from the previous 701 model. CNet.co.uk were disappointed that restrictions with the keyboard size had not been addressed. Apart from this minor flaw the 900 is still the new top dog on the sub-notebook market.

Not able to create the same kind of storm as the original Eee PC, the 900 does however deliver a larger screen, usable keyboard and interesting, if gimmicky gesture-enabled trackpad. Reg Hardware suggests that what the Eee PC 900 loses in terms of wow factor (especially concerning the higher price) it makes up for in usability with the higher resolution screen being the highlight of the new netbook.

"... Yes the price is higher than the previous model, but I personally believe that the Eee PC 900 still represents staggering value for money. Ultimately, if you want a notebook that's small, light and still very affordable, the Eee PC 900 should be top of your list."
