TrustedReviews
Published on 10/2009
On test: Toshiba Dynadock U10
"DisplayLink is a popular technology at TrustedReviews. For those that don't recall, it's that nifty tech which allows you to drive a monitor from just a humble USB port, opening a world of simple, multi-monitor productivity to devices (specifically laptops) that would otherwise miss out. Another product segment that's benefited is the humble docking station, making it possible to get networking, audio and display data - not to mention peripherals - all travelling down one cable." Review details: Single Test. One USB video docking station was reviewed and rated on design, features, performance and value.    Test results

"Toshiba Dynadock laptop docking station"
1 Laptop Accessory (approx. £90)
Pocket-lint.co.uk
Published on 3/2008
On test: Toshiba Dynadock
"If you have moved to the light-side, as in dumped your desktop in favour of a portable machine, then you will probably already be missing the ability to use all those essential peripherals without having to worry about plugging things in and out, or the vagaries of Bluetooth/Wi-Fi printers and the like. One answer is to opt for a really big laptop; I have one on my desk with a 20-inch screen which, to be honest, very rarely gets moved anywhere. As a result everything is permanently connected and the keyboard is big enough to meet the requirements of a professional writer. But this is not a laptop in the accepted sense in that it is not really portable - unless you include a hernia on your list of essential peripherals that is. Which just leaves you with that old favourite (shudder) the laptop docking station." Review details: Single Test    Test results
"Toshiba Dynadock"
1 Laptop Accessory (approx. £90)
PC Pro
Published on 4/2008
On test: Toshiba Dynadock
"Using a notebook as a portable machine and a desktop PC is feasible, but to do so comfortably requires peripherals. And while an external monitor, keyboard and mouse make for a much more ergonomic setup, it does involve a lot of fiddling with connectors. Toshiba's Dynadock simplifies this beautifully by bundling up six USB ports, S/PDIF sound, ethernet, a serial port and VGA output (a DVI version is also available), and squeezing them all into one USB connection." "Notebooks may be all the rage but one area where they still suffer is in the sound quality department. To remedy this, there are a host of external speakers that offer portable assistance. Personal Computer World

On test: Sony SRS-T10PC
"Small speaker sets almost always suffer from poor-quality sound because the speaker cones are simply not big or deep enough to move the large amount of air required for deep, loud bass sounds. However, sound quality was better than we had expected from these speakers, which measure only 15cm wide." Review details: Single Test    Test results
