Integrated pre- and power amplifiers dominate the car Hi-Fi field, but to get optimal sound a separate pre- and power amp combo is preferable, as these devices produce a vastly superior sound and their equalizers offer better quality. Class-D digital power amplifiers are the most popular nowadays, as opposed to the analog Class-A/B ones.
