"Toshiba's budget DVD aims high"
1 DVD Player (approx. £60)
What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue 7/2009
On test: Toshiba SD-390E
"In a tit-for-tat as to who has the best budget DVD player, Toshiba reply to last year's Award winner Onkyo with the still cheaper SD-390E. A good set of connections including HDMI and support for a wide range of DVD and CD formats are what you'll find in this no-frills player." Review details: Single Test    Test results
"Toshiba takes the battle to Blu-ray"
1 DVD Player (approx. £120)
What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue 11/2008
On test: Toshiba XDE500
"Conceding their loss in the high definition format war doesn't mean Toshiba will be immediately jumping on the Blu-ray bandwagon. Instead the company has talking up its latest line of upscaling DVD players, the XD-E500 being one of the more affordable examples." Review details: Single Test    Test results
"Toshiba XD-E500"

On test: Toshiba XDE500
"After Toshiba's defeat in the recent high definition format war, the company went back to the drawing board and decided that rather than jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon, they would concentrate their efforts on upscaling technology to improve the viewing on standard DVDs on high definition displays. The XD-E500 is the fruit of their labour but how close have they come to living up to their own hype?" Review details: Single Test    Test results
"Toshiba SD-280E DVD Player"
1 DVD Player (approx. £60)
TrustedReviews
Published on 4/2008
On test: Toshiba SD-280E
"The SD-280E is the first new DVD player to roll off Toshiba's 2008 production line, and we were first in line to take a look. It's a distinctly entry-level affair, with a stripped down spec and ultra-low price, making it a perfect player to accompany a second TV in the bedroom or the kitchen. Despite its simple spec, there are actually two players beneath it in the pecking order - the SD-180E (which only boasts a JPEG viewer) and SD-185E (with DivX and JPEG playback). The SD-280E goes one step further by adding MP3 to the compatibility list." Review details: Single Test    Test results
