"E-TEN glofish X500+"

PDA Essentials & GPS Advisor
Issue: 65/2007
On test: E-TEN Glofiish X500+
E-TEN isn't one of the better known producers of Pocket PCs here in the UK, and that is because the company sells Sim-free rather than having deals with network operators. The fact also means that if you choose an E-TEN device you'll have to pay more for it than you would with an operator subsidy. On the plus side you can swap Sims at will, and in the case of this particular PDA, just about everything except 3G is here at your beck and call. With so many features packed into this PDA, it might at first glance seem difficult to pick one that stands out from the rest. In fact, that task is easy. This is a very rare PDA indeed because it has a VGA display. Where other PDAs tend to offer 240x320 pixels, this one can do a massive 480x640.    More

"E-TEN Glofiish X500+ Pocket PC"

E-TEN is a Windows Mobile Pocket PC manufacturer that likes to be first. In the case of the Glofiish X500+ it has come up with the first device to run Windows Mobile 6 Professional and have a built in GPS antenna and have a 640 x 480 resolution display. The 640 x 480 screen on a Windows Mobile machine is the biggest rarity of the three. The last time I saw one of these was on an Orange SPV M5000. Riyad reviewed this way back in January last year. It has been a long wait to see the resolution crop up again.    More

E-TEN’s handhelds tend to pack in the features both in terms of hardware and software, and there's no doubt that the company tries hard to add value to its devices. With the Glofiish X500+ a key part of the added value comes in three features we've notseen in combination before: GPS, Windows Mobile 6 Professional and a VGA-resolution display. Add in the other extras, and this is a pretty special handheld.    More

E-TEN claims that this is the world's thinnest Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition handheld with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. We can't fathom the brand name — 'Glofiish' means nothing to us. But what really matters is not its name, but how well the device, which can be bought from Expansys for £364.95 (inc VAT), performs.    More
