The verdict: One was rated as “good”, 8 as “satisfactory” and 9 as “acceptable”. Test criteria were sound (quality using supplied headphones and with high-quality headphones, stereo amplifier, integrated loud speaker ...), image, handling (instruction manual, start-up / operation, comfort / durability), battery operation (runtime, charge time), versatility, protection against ear damage as well as toxic materials used in headphones. Product information and further reviews

YP-M1 PC Praxis 2/2010 - The iPhone was not only influential for the latest generation of mobile phones; even MP3 players are based around the appearance, functions and operation of the Apple classic. ...

Samsung YP-R1 (Beat DJ) CNET.de 12/2009 - An MP3 player with a touch sensitive display doesn’t necessarily have to be an iPod or tear a nice 100 euro shaped hole in your pocket. This can be seen with Samsung’s YP-R1 at a retail price of just 100 euros for the 8 GB version. We put the musical flounder, with a 2.6 inch WQVGA touchscreen, through its paces.

Samsung YP-M1 CNET.de 12/2009 - AMOLED-displays are more or less standard with Samsung mobile devices. Most touchscreen mobile phones from the Korean manufacturer already use the organic display technology and, with the addition of the YP-M1, a portable mediaplayer is joining the group. We’ll tell you what the 3.25 inch flat device can do in practice.

Samsung YP-P2 portable video player Computer act!ve 4/2008 - Undoubtedly designed to compete directly with the iPod touch, the YP-P2 is a touchscreen media player with built-in Bluetooth functionality for transferring music as well as for use with wireless Bluetooth headphones.

Samsung P2 a real player What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision 11/2007 - Samsung's clearly trying to get a head start on Apple in the touch-screen portable arena, but far from being an under-developed ruch job, the YP-P2 is an absolute belter.

Samsung YP-R1 16GB PMP Register Hardware 12/2009 - You can argue until the cows come home about what is the minimum screen size a PMP can get away with for watching feature length video on. Most would agree that an iPod Touch-esque 3.5in is the sweet spot, but Samsung reckons there is room beneath that.

Samsung YP-R1 8GB TrustedReviews 10/2009 - Samsung is really starting to get the hang of touch-driven MP3 players. The YP-P2 had its problems, but it was still an impressive first effort. The YP-P3 went a fair way to remedying the YP-P2's faults and Samsung's latest, the YP-R1 is better still. Review details: Single Test. One MP3 player was reviewed and rated on design and features, sound quality, usability, video quality, and value.

Samsung YP-Z5 (2GB) CNET.co.uk 3/2006 - Just as actors fear to speak the word 'Macbeth' outside of Shakespeare's play itself, worrying that it will bring bad fortune on their production, so MP3 player manufacturers should fear to speak the words 'iPod killer'.

Samsung YH-820 CNET.co.uk 6/2005 - Impressively, the Samsung YH-820 is smaller than the iPod Mini and weighs in at a mere 85g. The player's 41mm (1.6-inch) colour screen is also a theoretical step up from the iPod Mini's monochrome effort. But, as we'll see later, the YH-820's screen is not necessarily any more practical than its enemy's.
