Competing directly with Archos's range of wireless media players, the Cowon Q5W features a 5in screen and support for a wide range of audio and video codecs including the audiophile favourites FLAC and OGG.    More

Cowon is looking to take on the big names in the portable media player market with its Iaudio Q5W. The 5in display takes up the bulk of the front panel, but there's still room for a full-sized USB port for transferring digital content from other devices, and one for porting content directly to a TV.    More

"Cowon Q5W 40GB Portable Multimedia Player"

The idea of carrying a lot of equipment around in order to enjoy audiophile sound quality and stunning music should not be something dismissed out of hand. The sheer pleasure that can be had from adding a decent pair of noise-cancelling headphones and a portable headphone amplifier to your setup is incredible to behold. But you have to draw the line somewhere; bigger isn't always better, after all. And that's the feeling I got when I first clapped eyes (and hands) on Cowon's 'luxury' personal media player (PMP), the Q5W. Though extremely solidly built, with a metal body that feels as if it's armour-plated, this player is just too heavy at 380g to go anywhere but a briefcase or bag. I carried it in a sturdy inside jacket pocket on more that one commute and felt distinctly uncomfortable with my jacket insistently tugging at my left shoulder. Compared to the more pocket-friendly Archos 605 WiFi or Cowon's own A3, it's a beast.    More

If you've been waiting for a true alternative to the Francetastic Archos 605 WiFi, your wait is over. Cowon's new Q5W is a hard disk-boasting, Wi-Fi-capable, touchscreen-rocking, Windows-powered, codec-loving metallic behemoth. But with prices starting at a whopping £400, this South Korean media player is sending out a clear message: if you want everything, be prepared to sell limbs to afford it.    More
