"Shaun the Sheep iPod speaker system"

Pocket-lint.co.uk
Published on: 8/2007
On test: Golden Bear Toys Music Scene Shaun the Sheep
iPod speakers come in all shapes and sizes, so it was only a matter of time that they would come packed inside a soft cuddly toy. While some might find that the iTeddy, complete with its screen and built in MP3 player might be the way to go, Golden Bear, makers of all things cuddly things it has the answer with a Shaun the Sheep from the Aardman animation series Wallace and Gromit fame. The woolly star is part sheep, part soft cuddly toy, part speaker and allows you to plug your iPod/MP3 player into Shaun and watch the coloured lights dance on his earphones as your music plays.    More

"Scandyna Podspeakers and iPod Dock"

CNET.co.uk
Published on: 8/2007
On test: Scandyna Micropod Series
Today, we're going to take a look at three weird and wonderful products at once: an iPod dock, known simply as 'the dock'; the Micropod SEs, a pair of mini speakers; and the Minibass, a stylish subwoofer for use with the aforementioned units. Together, these three make up an estimable audio system for your iPod, worth just over £500. All three can be bought separately though, should just one of them appeal. These stylish, modern speakers come from Danish company Scandyna, which has been making professional speaker gear for 50 years. What does half a century of speaker experience sound and look like? They look rather odd, actually.    More

"Yamaha YSP-1100"

On test: Yamaha HiFi YSP-1100
We've seen many designs for virtual speaker systems, and most televisions come with technology that claims to be able to produce surround sound virtually using built-in speakers. We've yet to find one that actually manages this convincingly, but most people don't want the hassle of several speakers and the necessary wire, so we continue to look for a good one-box solution.    More

"B & W finally back - with a bang"

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue: 9/2007
On test: B&W 685
For a speaker company with such a strong reputation, B&W's been awfully quiet in the sub-£500 arena lately. A quick flick through our Buyer's Guide reveals a range of speakers we tested four and five years ago. Rivals like Quad, KEF and Monitor Audio have had free rein to carve up this sector between them in the interim. The new 600 series is a timely arrival, then - and we reckon these tidy 685 standmounts will account for a good portion of the range's sales.    More

"KEF iQ5s get special"

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
Issue: 9/2007
On test: KEF iQ5SE
We were worried for KEF. It's hard to improve on multiple Award winners like the iQ5s, and initially, it looked as if the new iQ5SEs play it a little too safe: they boast exactly the same drivers and enclosure as before, and even come in precisely the same range of finishes.    More
