We notify you free of charge about new tests on the topic of: Universal battery chargers. Your e-mail address:

Simple chargers are quite cheap, but require long periods of time for loading the batteries and do not protect against overload or overheating. Better, therefore, are smart chargers that monitor the loading process and automatically detect when a battery is fully charged. There are also quick chargers available.

Many more people are becoming aware of the environmental impact of our love for all things battery powered. The development of the rechargeable battery however, did not only offer us a greener way of powering our gadgets, but also the possibility to supply more power to high drain appliances such as digital cameras and to keep low power devices like a mobile phone for instance, on stand-by for longer. When a rechargeable battery has become depleted, unlike a normal single use battery, it can be recharged in a compatible battery charger and used again. There are two types of battery charger; simple and intelligent. In a simple charger, a voltage and current is applied to the battery at all times, the speed of the charging cycle depends on the current used. An intelligent charger is safer for the battery as it monitors the condition of the battery and depending on the current charge state, either full or empty, varies the current applied. This way the battery can be charged in a much shorter time as high current will only be used until the battery is near full, from which point the battery will be 'trickle charged' until it is taken out to be used.
