Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85
"excellent" (5 out of 5 stars)
One of the stand-outs in this test, Panasonic's TH-46PZ85 plasma screen - the only one in this test - has superb colour rendering, contrast, and detail. The best Freeview tuner in the test, and with exemplary audio also, only stable motion leaves a little more to be desired.
1
Sony Bravia KDL-46W4500
"excellent" (5 out of 5 stars)
"Supertest Winner"
In a close three-way, Sony's KDL-46W4500 was unfailingly brilliant in image quality, all you could hope for in Blu-ray reproduction, and solid audio also. Attention to image calibration will bring out the best and show off what is really impressive here.

Sony KDL-46Z4500
"excellent" (5 out of 5 stars)
The high-end model to the high-end KDL-46W4500, Sony's KDL-46Z4500 gives you 200Hz Motionflow, 80,000:1 contrast and improved audio set-up for the extra price. Not as noticeably dramatic as expected, this is however a stunning set.
4
Samsung LE-46A786
"very good" (4 out of 5 stars)
Strong competition in this test and a struggle to find detail in the blacks let down Samsung's LE-46A786. With good design style, sharp contrast and open and weighty sound, almost everything is here to make it special, but not quite.
4
Toshiba 46ZV555DB
"very good" (4 out of 5 stars)
A natural picture from all sources, Toshiba's 46ZV555DB doesn't have the resolution and contrast of the others. Motion is well-rendered but the audio is indirect and somewhat unclear. For the price though it is well worth considering.
6
JVC LT-46DS9BJ
"average" (3 out of 5 stars)
A stylish, slim design, three HDMI connections and an all-round compliment of features and specifications make JVC's LT-46DS9BJ a steady TV. Compared to the other models, image and audio were not impressive when taking the price into consideration.
6
LG Electronics 47LG7000
"average" (3 out of 5 stars)
LG's 47LG7000 with an extra inch of screen makes for realistic colours and detail from all video sources and good audio reproduction to boot. The contrast balance between deep blacks and pristine whites is impossible to find though, making for an unsatisfying picture.
6
Sharp LC-46X20E
"average" (3 out of 5 stars)
An unexciting model that is nonetheless a good all-rounder amidst some truly memorable and astounding´TVs, Sharp's LC-46X20E lacks elegance and ease of use in its design and is unimpressive in blacks and motion reproduction.
